Morning Raga


I was just surfing the channels to check the news at 9(it has been one yr since the kumbakonam incident happened.My heart aches when i remember that incident.one negligence somewhere costed those tiny tots lives).well some music somewhere made me put my remote aside and was elated to see that it's a movie.it was Morning Raga.casting ShabhanaAzmi,the female protoganist,Nasser,Thalaivasal vijay(Shabana's encouraging husband) and other's.... .Arka mediaworks production.the whole movie was well picturised whole movie revolves around village and the city.fantabulous classical music as the title itself suggests .excellent lip synchronization by artists!!!!
the story is quite simple .English-telugu one.it starts with a wonderful melodious song very pleasing to hear wherein Shabhana(swarna) forces her friend to accompany her to the concert in the city.
they all start their journey in bus with their kids Madhav and Abhinay respectively and fate has something else to tell.the bus hits a car,falls across a bridge and Shabana's son and her friend die.story moves post 20 yrs.
The story moves from West Godavari village to hyd(Charminar can be viewed well) .This movie made me see the beauty of Godavari.the greenery,pleasant atmosphere resembling kerala in many ways especially the backwaters
Abhinay desires to start a music group and her friend the female lead priyanka(name in the movie) helps him.they start their group wid two others one playing guitar and another drums. with Nasser,Abhi's father being skeptical about him opting for music rather than looking after the work in village.their group is named "Pratibimb".many a time they fail in their attempts but they never give up.he receives a Violin as a parcel from Shabhana(which she has been preserving as a token of her friend's love) and he realises how great a musician his mother was.He goes back to his native place and finds how great a singer her mother's friend is.he insists Shabhana to sing for his group because it was her long desire to sing for the concert(incident happening while she was going to the concert) but shabhana never wanted to go out from the city.it constantly remainded her of the tragic accident met and blames herself for her friend's death.
inspite of many insisting she doesn't turn up to the city to sing for the group.on the way the bridge reminded her the incident and starts screaming.But she always had the desire to help them.The only possibility was to call them to their place.they all turn up and priyanka learns music from her.she excels in learning.the incident binds all the three in the movie.it is priyanka's father who dies when the bus hits the car and he was drunk while driving
they make her realise it was not her fault atall.
They all get prepared to sing for the group and Shabhana too joins atlast and sings there for the sake of Abhinay.Pratibimb becomes a hit.it is a fusion of classical songs and western too.
the story has hilarious stuff aswell and worthwatching once.for music the movie receives 5/5.classical tunes are marvellous

the movie showed the innocence of villagers and their attitude towards city people.their Down to Earth and friendly nature.well portrayed cast and most of the credit goes to the playback singers and musicians
after a long time this was one movie i enjoyed watching after DCH,Hungama and Jhankar Beats.wonderful melody and nice rhythm
